Veggie Scrambled Eggs for Toddlers

Veggie scrambled eggs are a great way of incorporating some greens into your toddler’s diet without any fuss.  You can play around with whatever veggies are in your fridge, just don’t overdo it if you have a picky eater.  The idea is to add more and more vegetables as he or she gets used to the taste.

I prepare mine with two eggs, olive oil, half a shredded tomato (cut it in half and shred one half leaving the skin out), 1 to 2 cups of spinach, a bunch of chopped broccoli florets, 2 spoons of ricotta cheese, and a dash of salt.  Pair it with a slice of Ezequiel’s sprouted whole grain bread and you get a highly nutritious breakfast for your little one.

Acne During Pregnancy: Safe Prenatal Skin Care

So where is “The Glow“?  During the first trimester of both of my pregnancies my skin turned its back at me.  I was breaking out in the most unusual places of my face.  It looked more as if I had a bad rash than a case of acne.  Frustrated, I started trying all of those organic and natural lines recommended for pregnancy, but my skin still got worse.  The issue was that I was suffering from acne due to my hormones, so I needed something that would actually treat the problem while my hormones were out of tune.  I had to find safe ingredients for my sensitive oily skin.

After doing my research, it was clear that I could use both glycolic acid and benzoyl peroxide to treat my acne.  I tried different brands and combinations until, finally, I found that the following regime was great on my skin:

Morning:

  • Cleanse with Acnefree oil free acne cleanser using a Clarisonic brush

Best Feeding Spoons for Babies

As with all the baby products, getting the right one takes time and lots of trials.  When it comes to feeding spoons, there is no difference.  By the time I got to my second baby I had pretty much tried most of them.

Your baby’s first spoons should be small, since your baby can’t eat much at this time, and the tips should also be soft so they are gentle enough on your baby’s gums.  Nowadays you can also get spoons that turn white if the food happens to be over 110°F (43.3°C).  My favorites so far are the Munchkin Safety Spoons, which turn white if food is too hot for the baby.

You can click here to get them :).

New Year’s Resolutions 2015

As 2015 starts, I can’t stop thinking of my new years resolutions to make this a better year for my family and me. These are some of the top on my list:

– Exercise more.  I would like to hit the gym at least 3 times a week, and complete either one long run or one Tracy Anderson workout a week.  Last year I was very disciplined about my workout routine until I gave birth to my baby girl and found out myself choosing a hour extra of sleep rather than going to the gym.

This is me keeping up with my New Year resolution of exercising more LOL.

– Read more books.  I used to read lots of books before becoming a mom.  After that, of course I kept on reading, but mostly about babies and parenting … this year I would like to go back to my favorite topics, specially historical fiction :).

– Organize my family pictures.  This one has been haunting me for a couple of years already.  I am confronting that big pile of family pictures this year!

– Potty training my 2 1/2 boy.  I hope this one is in my little boy’s New Year resolution list as well LOL.

– Cooking new recipes for my family.  Last year I got a couple of nice cooking books because I wanted to try different recipes everyday. Nonetheless, I think I may have prepared 1 or 2 recipes of each :(… This year I would like to at least prepare one new recipe a week.

– Get one massage per month.  Carrying a baby around all day long gives me backaches from time to time, so what a better way to fix the problem than getting a massage.  I think full time mommies deserve this type of pampering.  I love Massage Envy Brickell for regular massages, and I never miss the Miami Massage Month.  My favorite Spa in Miami is Lapis, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

– Writing a children’s book.  I had written a very good one long time ago but never got to publish it.  I would like to see if I can do so this year.  It was a really nice story, and I know that my kids would love it :).

These are just some that came into my mind.

I hope we all can stick to our New Year Resolutions :).

Placenta Encapsulation: The pills you will most likely NOT share with your friends

I know what you are thinking, YIKES! But don’t turn the page just yet. Your placenta has still some use after delivery!  You can use it for postpartum healing, as it has been used for thousands of years in Chinese Medicine, and other cultures around the world.

The belief is that your baby’s placenta still retains many of its nutrients after birth.  For this reason, the placenta is dried, grounded, and encapsulated so that the mother can take advantage of its consumption. Some of its benefits are the replenishment of vitamins and minerals, balancing hormones, increasing milk production, and curbing postpartum depression.  Moreover, the capsules can be frozen for years to be taken during menopause.  Hence, by consuming the placenta in capsule form, the mother can aid her healing process and recover much faster!

The ones below are my own placenta capsules :).  Your midwife or Placenta Encapsulation Specialist should provide you with the instructions for proper consumption and storage.

Increase Your Milk Supply with Milky!

As a new mom determined to exclusively breastfeed your baby, you know how important it is to maintain a good milk supply.  Thankfully, it is possible to increment  your milk production with herbal supplements.  The most popular herbs are Fenugreek, Brewers Yeast, Blessed Thistle, and  Red Raspberry. You may take these as capsules or even as teas.

Now there is one lactation-enhancing herbal tea in the market that I love.  It’s called Milky! Milky was launched by sisters and actresses Tia and Tamera, and it claims not only to boost your breast milk but to enhance its quality.  You are supposed to drink two 2.5oz bottles a day to see the results.  I did find it helpful plus I loved the strawberry flavor.

Get it online at the Pea in the Pod, or you can get it at the Pea in the Pod store in Merrick Park, Miami :).

Get into the Book Club: A Year of Books

I bet you have already heard of Mark Zuckerberg’s new page on Facebook, a Year of Books. Last time I checked it already had 78K likes 😱👍👏!
I think is such a nice idea that someone that can reach so many people can bring them together to read a new book every two weeks.
The first one on the list is the End of Power by Moisés Naim. Are you in the book club? I already got my copy in my Kindle ☺️.

How to Exercise on Your Way to the Market

Having a baby and a toddler makes it difficult to find time to exercise.  That is why is so important to multitask.  Ditch the drive and instead take your kids for a stroll to the market.  Pushing a double stroller plus the groceries around the neighborhood will sure count as a workout.  In my case, it is a 16 block round trip.  Not only do you get to do your groceries, but you can enjoy taking a stroll with your kids while burning some extra calories!

Noon Year’s Eve for the Kids at Miami Children’s Museum

New Year’s Eve is almost here and I am starting to feel a little bit guilty that I will not be spending the night with my kids (I know they will be tucked in bed by 9pm anyways but still can’t help it).  I was trying to find something fun to do with them so that we could share some special time together before the New Year’s Eve Party.  Thankfully, we’ve got the Miami Children’s Museum launching a Noon Year’s Eve Party.  We’ll then get to ring in the New Year a couple of hours earlier with a fun balloon drop, which I know my kids will love!
