We all agree that we have only one Earth and we must take care of it. But as parents we must also teach our little ones to love it because Earth is their home. Earth Day is a special day to share different ideas of how we can show some love to our beautiful planet. At home, we have been making some crafts, and even some Earth Day cookies! Happy Earth Day!
If you have never painted with acrylic paint, paint pouring is perfect for beginners. I love making this type of art with my little kids. It is easy and fast to make. All you need is canvas, acrylic pouring paint, varnish, a brush, paper or plastic cups, gloves, and a cover to protect your surface.
So you start by pouring a coat of white paint on your canvas. You can evenly spread it with a brush. Then, in a cup, pour the colors that you would like to use in your piece. I always start with white, and add the other colors in layers. Next, gently pour the colors on top of your canvas. You can do this in many different ways as you like. They are no mistakes! Finally, just rock your paint gently from one side to the other, from the top to the bottom, until the paint moves in the wave patterns that you like. Let it dry for about two days before applying your varnish.
My 5 year old enjoying the easy technique.
Below are all the the materials I like to use (you can click on them to purchase them):
My daughter loves decorating sugar cookies. It is a fun activity to do with your little ones. You can make your own cookie dough or you can get a cookie mix. To see the one I use from Betty Crocker click here.
Sugar Cookie Mix
After getting your cookie mix, the next thing you need is your decorating materials. We love pink and white cookie icing and sprinkles. For these, I like Wilton cooking icing (click here) and their sprinkles (click here).
I bet you have already heard of Mark Zuckerberg’s new page on Facebook, a Year of Books. Last time I checked it already had 78K likes 😱👍👏!
I think is such a nice idea that someone that can reach so many people can bring them together to read a new book every two weeks.
The first one on the list is the End of Power by Moisés Naim. Are you in the book club? I already got my copy in my Kindle ☺️.
